Q&A on the SES solution
> Can the SES transmission system be harmful to one's health?
The transmission system complies with the EU directive and meets all aspects of the generic emissions and immunity standards (electrostatic discharge, modulated electromagnetic fields and power frequency magnetic fields). Therefore there are no health risks whatsoever, either for customers or for store employees. > What happens if there is a power outage?
The labels are completely autonomous, as each is powered by an individual battery. Therefore, prices will continue to be displayed. However, as the computer and the transmitter will no longer be working, it will not be possible to change prices. > How long do the batteries last?
The service life of the batteries depends directly on the number of price updates performed every day. Taking all our existing customers into account, we have calculated that the average service life of our batteries is over 7 years; some stores have not changed their batteries in more than 10 years. > Is there a limit to the number of labels a store can have?
No, there is no limit; some of our customers now have over 60,000 labels in their store. > Is there a risk of interference from other electronic systems in the store, for example WiFi or Bluetooth?
The SES transmission system operates at a very low radio frequency (38.4 kHz). WiFi and Bluetooth technologies operate at the opposite end of the spectrum, on the high and very high frequency bands. Consequently, there cannot be any interference between them. > How will you link up with my back-office system?
The SES system is always "slaved" to the in-store system. SES works with the store's back-office system provider to draw up detailed specifications for the interface (the type of data to collect, the format of the data, the pathname, the filename, etc.). During installation, the computer is connected to the in-store network. According to the specifications, it will then automatically receive price label update files. > If my direct competitor is fitted with the same system, can he pirate my prices?
There cannot be any interference between 2 stores, even if they are only a few dozen meters away from each other. Each store is given a unique code, which is saved in the memory of each label on initialization. As a result, the labels can only accept messages containing this code. > Can the color of the labels be customized?
SES is able to customize a store's labels using silk-screen printed stickers. This still allows for in-store merchandising campaigns, while optimizing the visual segmentation of product offering. > If I buy your system now, will it be compatible with future generations of labels?
SES offers an upgradeable software and transmission infrastructure, thereby ensuring forward compatibility with future generations of labels. > Are any specific computer skills needed to operate the system?
Neither the department manager nor the system administrator will need any specific skills. The system is designed to be as autonomous and intuitive as possible; SES will deliver instructions on how to use the system during installation. > Should a specific employee be appointed to run the system?
No, as the system is easy to use, there is no need to appoint a specific person to run it. Nearly all tasks performed by the system are fully automatic. However, it is advisable to have someone trained as system administrator, who will be the preferred contact in the event of assistance being required.
